Shariful Islam Shehzad, a man embroiled in controversy since January, has formally requested bail from the Mumbai Sessions Court. He has been accused of assaulting actor Saif Ali Khan during an attempted robbery at Khan's Bandra residence. Through his lawyer, Ajay Gawali, Shehzad maintains that he is innocent and claims that the case was concocted against him.

In the bail application, Shehzad argues that the FIR was improperly registered and assures full cooperation with the investigation. He states that the police already possess all evidence, making any tampering implausible. Currently, the case is being heard in the Bandra Magistrate Court, but it is expected to be transferred to the Sessions Court once the chargesheet is filed. So far, the Bandra Police have not submitted the chargesheet.

On January 16, Shehzad was accused of breaking into Saif Ali Khan's home, resulting in an altercation that left the actor with significant injuries, including damage to his thoracic spine. Khan received medical treatment for his injuries at Lilavati Hospital. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police reported having ample evidence against Shehzad, identifying his entry into India from Bangladesh and his stay in Kolkata before arriving in Mumbai. Authorities continue to affirm the validity of the evidence gathered against the accused, dismissing any discrepancies regarding fingerprint mismatches.
