In celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga, renowned actor Dharmendra shared insights into the timeless cultural significance of yoga and its profound impact on his personal well-being. Speaking to ANI, Dharmendra highlighted the essential role yoga plays in the lives of individuals and communities globally.

The actor commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and yoga guru Baba Ramdev for their efforts in making yoga a worldwide phenomenon. 'Modi ji initiated this movement on an international stage, while Ramdev ji laid its groundwork,' Dharmendra noted, stressing that yoga's historical roots belong to Indian civilisation and its necessity in today's world.

Dharmendra, who remains active in both life and career despite his advancing years, underscored yoga's unique health benefits. 'Yoga isn't just exercise; it's a remedy for myriad health issues,' he asserted, emphasizing its importance for holistic physical and mental wellness. As a testament to his enduring vigor, Dharmendra recounted his lifelong dedication to fitness as key to his enduring career in film.

Reflecting on his enduring passion for health, he said, 'Though some dub me old, my spirit remains youthful.' His journey, rich with dreams and the relentless pursuit of health, remains a cornerstone of his legacy in the cinematic world.

International Yoga Day also featured a mass yoga session led by Prime Minister Modi on Visakhapatnam's picturesque coastline, attracting over 300,000 participants. Modi heralded yoga as a universal 'gift beyond age,' promoting unity beyond cultural and geographical boundaries. In recognizing its global significance, he emphasized its place as an inclusive practice benefiting all of humanity.

The United Nations declared June 21 the International Day of Yoga in 2014 following India's proposal at the General Assembly, acknowledging yoga's universal health and harmony benefits.
