Uttarakhand Unveils First-ever Yoga Policy on International Yoga Day

Uttarakhand, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, announced a pioneering Yoga Policy to transform the state into a global wellness hub. With substantial subsidies, the policy aims to establish yoga centers and spiritual cities, promoting healing practices like yoga, meditation, and naturopathy statewide.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the state's first Yoga Policy during the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, making it the nation's first state to introduce such a framework. Speaking in Gairsain, Dhami highlighted the policy's objective to position Uttarakhand as a global wellness hub.

Under Yoga Policy 2025, the state plans to allocate substantial subsidies, including up to Rs 20 lakh for establishing yoga centers and a grant for yoga research. Dhami emphasized the integration of yoga services in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers by 2026 and revealed plans for two spiritual cities in Kumaon and Garhwal regions.

The initiative aims to transform Uttarakhand into the world capital of yoga and spiritual tourism, attracting experts and institutions globally. The event, featuring dignitaries like Mexico's Ambassador to India, reinforced the government's commitment to promoting yoga as a natural healing practice essential for mental and spiritual well-being.
