Kannada Language Promotion: A Key to Local Empowerment

In a bid to strengthen Kannada's presence in public administration, Kannada Development Authority Chairman Purushothama Bilimale has called for issuing tenders and notifications in the regional language. This move aims to empower local contractors and boost job opportunities for the youth, according to Bilimale.
Speaking at a review meeting in Udupi, Bilimale stressed the importance of preserving Kannada's 2,000-year-old heritage by incorporating the language into administrative functions. He warned that officials failing to implement Kannada would be directly accountable.
In addition, Bilimale urged banks to hire Kannada-speaking staff, facilitating easier banking for locals. Plans were made to convene a meeting of major banks to ensure the directive's execution. Deputy Commissioner Swaroop T K assured that Kannada's use would be prioritized in future Karnataka Development Programme meetings.
