In a significant breakthrough, the police in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district successfully apprehended four alleged thieves and recovered ancient idols stolen from a village temple. This operation brought to light the gang's elaborate plan to sell these invaluable artifacts.

The recovery process was set into motion over the weekend following a promising tip-off. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Durga Prasad Tiwari, the idols were stolen from Kela village on July 28. Reacting promptly, Bahraich Superintendent of Police Ram Nayan Singh established multiple teams to crack the case.

Arrests were made after the police intercepted three motorcycles with the suspects in the Gambhirwa area, finding the idols in their possession. The accused confessed to intending to sell the sacred ashtadhatu idols, believing them to be immensely valuable. Kuldeep Shukla, the identified mastermind with a notorious criminal record, remains under scrutiny as police continue to unravel this intricate theft operation.
