A new film city, modeled after Mumbai's Dadasaheb Phalke Chittranagri, will be established in Igatpuri, Nashik district. The Maharashtra government has sanctioned land for the ambitious project aimed at boosting the Indian film industry.
At a crucial meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, senior cabinet members consented to transfer government land to the cultural affairs department. This site, known for its scenic beauty, is accessible from Mumbai via the Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Highway.
Professional services firm KPMG has been commissioned to conduct a financial viability analysis. Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar confirmed plans to assign a project management consultant to expedite development. The venture may also include an amusement park to draw visitors.
