Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled plans to enhance Chhath Puja celebrations along the Yamuna by crafting 17 model ghats. The government aims to facilitate a devotional atmosphere akin to Diwali. Notably, all past legal cases against devotees will be nullified, marking a shift in policy.
At the Delhi Secretariat press conference, Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to a safe, clean, and sacred celebration of Chhath Puja this year. Over 1,000 ghats, including 17 large ones along the Yamuna, will accommodate the city's devotees, featuring amenities like tents, lighting, and medical facilities.
This year's celebration, marking a significant departure from previous restrictions, coincides with efforts to rejuvenate the Yamuna—a core promise during the Delhi Assembly polls. Gupta highlighted the festival's importance to the Purvanchali community, affirming Delhi's stature as India's new capital of faith.
