President Droupadi Murmu has announced that by 2050, India seeks not just to meet its clean energy objectives but also to evolve into a global solar demand hub, spearheading innovation and manufacturing in the sector.
Speaking at the International Solar Alliance's 8th Session, Murmu emphasized the critical link between climate action and rural prosperity, essential for sustainable development. She pointed out that India's standing in renewable energy capacity and ranks third in solar power generation reflects a strong policy commitment.
The President also highlighted that India's solar capacity has surpassed 120 Gigawatts in a push toward the 2030 goal of 500 Gigawatt non-fossil capacity, urging for women's participation and a focus on transforming lives within the framework of solar energy initiatives.
