Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the historic Kanaka Mantap on Friday, offering floral tributes to the revered 14th-15th century saint-philosopher, Kanakadasa.
Kanakadasa is celebrated for the legendary event involving Lord Krishna's idol turning westward at Udupi's Sri Krishna Temple, a site rich in cultural history. Following his homage at the Mantap, Modi headed to the Sri Krishna Temple where he was ceremoniously received by Paryaya Puthige Math seer, Sugunendra Thirtha, along with other temple dignitaries.
During his stay, Modi took time to honor Kanakadasa's devotion and legacy. This marked his second visit to the temple, having first visited in 2008 when he was Gujarat's Chief Minister. He was presented with traditional offerings, highlighting the cultural and religious significance of this historic site.
