In a development drawing considerable attention, the proposed mosque complex in Dhannipur faces hurdles nearly five years after the Supreme Court's landmark allocation of land, shifting the focus from the controversial site of the former Babri Masjid.

As confirmed by Zufar Faruqi, chairman of the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), the project's progress is tied to several factors, including the Ayodhya Development Authority's (ADA) approval of revised plans and potential land acquisitions for expansion.

Despite the uncertainties, the IICF hopes to kick off construction by April 2026, contingent on scaling funding efforts, particularly from overseas for which Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) approval is eagerly awaited.
