Azerbaijan's tourism sector experienced a significant downturn in 2025, with a 30% reduction in tourist arrivals from India, attributed to global geopolitical challenges and disrupted connectivity.

In spite of last year's challenges, the outlook for 2026 appears optimistic. The Azerbaijan Tourism Board reports an upswing in bookings within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) category and the destination wedding segment, as travel sentiments recover.

Azerbaijan is focusing on enhancing its appeal to Indian tourists by honing in on segments such as Free Independent Travellers (FIT), solo travellers, and celebration events. The country is banking on cultural connections and improved air connectivity to attract more Indian visitors in 2026.
