The Indian government has embarked on a major initiative to transform 15 archaeological excavation sites into tourist centers, announced Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday.
Responding to questions in the Rajya Sabha, Shekhawat noted that the recent Union Budget has allocated funds to develop these historical locations into experience hubs. Notable sites, such as the Diamond Triangle in Odisha and Udayagiri, where a significant Buddha relic was unearthed, are included in these plans.
Inquiries regarding overseas conservation efforts, like those concerning historic Gurudwaras, were also addressed, with Shekhawat highlighting ongoing efforts to preserve India's cultural footprint globally. Additionally, he praised the establishment of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor under Prime Minister Modi's administration.
