The Singapore Government has taken a significant step towards accommodating its Hindu community by designating a plot of land in Yishun Avenue 3 for the construction of a new temple. The planned Sree Guruvayoorappan Ayyappan Temple (SGAT) will address the growing spiritual needs of Hindus in the city-state.
Scheduled for construction later this year, SGAT will become the 25th Hindu temple in Singapore, with its design inspired by the traditional Kerala gable. The structure will feature multicultural elements, highlighting Singapore's commitment to promoting social cohesion.
With an expected influx of devotees, SGAT aims to strengthen cultural ties and serve as a starting point for Singaporean pilgrims visiting significant temples in Kerala. Its multipurpose facilities will also support community outreach and educational programs, further enhancing its role as a cultural hub.
