Arun Kumar Tiwari, a mountaineer from India, tragically passed away last week while descending from Mt Everest. His family has chosen to leave his body on the mountain, citing their faith and the complexities involved in retrieving it.
Tiwari, aged 53, fell ill near the Hillary Step after reaching near the summit. Despite assistance from four Sherpa climbers, he could not be saved. Known for his climbing prowess, Tiwari had previously ascended notable peaks globally. His family believes that bringing his body down is both technically challenging and that it is now in a divine realm.
