Akshay Kumar donates Rs 1 crore, extends support to Odisha cyclone victims

After the violent Cyclone, Fani wreaked havoc in Odisha on Friday, Bollywood celebrities have stepped in to urge their fans to donate for the affected state. With a wind speed touching nearly 200 kmph, Fani created destruction in the state after which relief and rescue operations have begun on a massive scale. Adding to raise the awareness of people, Akshay Kumar extends support to Odisha cyclone victims donates Rs 1 crore to Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Akshay Kumar has been always known for his initiative taken for helping people and for a social cause. This is not new. Akshay has always been contributing for causes, be it his Bharat ke Veer initiative for the armed forces, or his contribution to the Kerala Floods or Chennai floods earlier," says an industry source.

Earlier, Akshay extends his support by donation Rs 5 crore through Bharat ke veer, a fund-raising initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Akshay was also trolled lately due to his absence from the polling booths and his wife Twinkle Khanna was spotted at a polling booth without him.
