Maha: Amravati district's COVID-19 tally reaches 190

The count of COVID-19 cases in Amravati district of Maharashtra went up to 190, after five more people tested positive for the infection in the city since Wednesday night, officials said. While one person tested coronavirus positive on Wednesday night, four others were found infected this morning, an official release issued by the civil surgeon's office said on Thursday.

Of these five new patients, two women aged 75 and 35 and a 50-year-old male are from Masanganj area of the city, which is a COVID-19 hotspot, it said. One patient each is from Hanuman Nagar (a 35-year-old woman) and Dussera Maiden (a 26-year-old man).

With the three new cases, the number of patients found in Masanganj area has reached 30. Of these total number of cases in the area, one had succumbed to the infection, while seven others have recovered so far, the officials said..
