Union Environment Minister Harsh Vardhan today met EU Ambassador to India Tomasz Kozlowski and expressed his keenness to work with all stakeholders to make the Paris climate change agreement a real success.

Kozlowski briefed Vardhan about the forthcoming visit of European Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs, and Fisheries Karmenu Vella along with 80 business leaders to New Delhi.

The Paris agreement is a landmark pact to combat climate change and to accelerate and intensify the actions and investments needed for a sustainable low carbon future reached in the capital of France on December 12, 2015.

Its central aim is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The agreement's aim is to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
