UK has highly resilient food supply chain, says PM's spokesman

Britain has a highly resilient food supply chain, a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday, after a jump in gas prices shut fertilizer plants that also produce carbon dioxide used in the food industry. Asked whether there was a risk of Christmas food supplies being hurt, the spokesman told reporters: "It remains the case that we have a highly resilient supply chain and that will remain the case."

"We will consider any contingency plans as appropriate."
