Moscow Backs Beijing's Boycott of Ukraine Peace Summit

The Kremlin has publicly supported China's decision to not participate in a peace summit on Ukraine planned for next month in Switzerland. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, China's stance underscores the futility of holding such a summit without Russia, which was not invited to the meeting.

The Kremlin said on Friday that Moscow supported China's refusal to take part in a peace summit on Ukraine next month in Switzerland. China has confirmed it will not attend the event, four sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters earlier on Thursday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that China's decision showed that Beijing understood that holding such an event without Russia would be futile. Moscow has not been invited to the Swiss talks.
