Karnataka's Energy Minister KJ George addressed concerns about linking Aadhaar numbers to IP set RR numbers, clarifying that the move is for record-keeping purposes. Speaking at a press conference in the Bellary district panchayat hall on Thursday, George emphasized that this initiative aims to accurately assess the number of IP sets and ensure efficient electricity distribution.

Minister George stated, "Agricultural pump sets up to 10 HP already receive free electricity. To prevent power disruptions caused by illegal pump sets and to accurately gauge electricity needs, Aadhaar linkage is essential." He reiterated the state's commitment to providing uninterrupted power, even during droughts. The plan includes ensuring seven hours of daily electricity without load shedding, achieved through demand-based allocation and regular district-level meetings every three months.

Discussing the regularization of illegal IP sets and solar pump sets under the KB Scheme, George mentioned that farmers beyond 500 meters from power transformers would be supported under the Kusum B scheme, which offers substantial subsidies. Additionally, George announced the recruitment of 2,000 linemen within 15 days to address service delivery and transfer issues, especially in coastal and hilly regions.

The Energy Minister also stressed the importance of regular meetings to resolve power supply issues, instructing ESCOM Managing Directors to collaborate with district representatives and Chief Engineers to promptly address challenges.
