Delhi High Court Demands Police Report in Kanjhawla Hit-and-Run Case

The Delhi High Court has asked Delhi Police to respond to a bail plea by Krishan, accused in the Kanjhawla hit-and-run case. The court scheduled a hearing for August 14. Krishan, along with six others, faces serious charges, including murder. The case involves the tragic dragging of a girl by a car on January 1, 2023.

The Delhi High Court on Friday requested a response from Delhi Police concerning a bail plea submitted by Krishan, an accused in the Kanjhawla hit-and-run case of January 2023. Krishan faces charges of murder in a case where a girl was tragically dragged by a car on January 1 this year.

Justice Amit Mahajan directed Delhi Police to file a status report and set the next hearing for August 14. Krishan's previous bail plea was dismissed by the trial court on May 6, 2023. Advocate JP Singh has moved the new bail plea on behalf of Krishan, who has been in custody since January 2023.

The Rohini District Court on July 27, 2023, ordered the framing of murder and conspiracy charges against Krishan and three others. Three additional accused were charged with destroying evidence and other offenses. The charges include significant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as murder (section 302), destruction of evidence (section 201), and criminal conspiracy (section 120B).
