Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), describing them as two sides of the same coin and accusing them of spreading falsehoods. Saini expressed his confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) victory in the upcoming state assembly elections later this year.
'The Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are two sides of the same coin; both lie but this time their lies have been exposed. The BJP government will be formed for the third time in the state,' said Saini. He also defended the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on the premises of Haryana Congress MLA Rao Dan Singh, stating the ED was merely performing its duty.
On Thursday, the ED conducted multiple raids at locations linked to Singh in relation to a bank loan fraud case amounting to Rs 1,392 crore. Addressing the issue of bringing Sutlej water to Haryana via Himachal, Saini stressed the state's urgent need for water for irrigation purposes.
Meanwhile, AAP announced it will contest the upcoming Haryana assembly elections independently, contrasting its previous alliance with Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. 'AAP will contest with full force. We have governments in Delhi and Punjab. The people of Haryana appealed to us, and now we are here,' said AAP leader Mann.
According to Mann, AAP will form a dedicated team and contest all 90 assembly seats in Haryana, aiming to oust the incumbent BJP-JJP coalition government. 'The people of Haryana want change,' he said.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh highlighted the pressing issues faced by Haryana's residents, including unemployment and unmet demands of farmers. Singh criticized the incumbent government, promising that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal would bring transformative change to Haryana.
The Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 are expected to take place on or before October 2024, with the current Assembly's tenure ending on November 3. The election schedule is yet to be announced.
