AAP Stages Protest Against Alleged Tree Cutting in Delhi

AAP leaders and workers protested near BJP office on DDU Marg against the alleged cutting of 1100 trees in Delhi's southern ridge area. They blamed Lt Governor VK Saxena and formed a human chain. The Supreme Court criticized both the LG and the AAP government.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers organized a protest near the BJP office on DDU Marg, voicing their concerns over the alleged cutting of 1100 trees in Delhi's southern ridge area.

The demonstrators, some donning face masks of Delhi LG VK Saxena, carried cutouts of saws and tree stumps, forming a human chain to symbolize their discontent.

They accused the Lt Governor of the BJP-led Centre of being responsible for the deforestation in the protected forest area. The Supreme Court has also sharply criticized both LG VK Saxena and the AAP government regarding the matter.

The AAP claimed the trees were felled for a road widening project by the DDA based on verbal instructions from the LG, while the BJP alleged that the actions were approved by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Environment Minister Gopal Rai.
