Finance Minister Announces Major Energy Transition Policies in Budget 2024-25
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced new energy transition policies, including support for pump storage projects and the establishment of high-efficiency thermal power plants by NTPC and BHEL. Additionally, 1.8 crore registrations were reported for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the government's strategic plans for energy transition during the Budget 2024-25 presentation in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The new policy includes support for pump storage projects to ensure round-the-clock energy availability.
Sitharaman also announced that state-owned enterprises NTPC and BHEL will collaborate to establish 800 MW supercritical thermal power plants, enhancing energy efficiency. Furthermore, the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has seen an overwhelming response, with 1.8 crore registrations.
