Uttarakhand CM Stays Vigilant Amid Heavy Rains, Issues Safety Directives

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami remains in constant contact with officials in areas affected by severe waterlogging due to heavy rains. He has instructed all district magistrates in the state to remain on high alert and coordinate closely with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other rescue teams.

In a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Dhami emphasized the priority of ensuring the safety of residents and visitors. He also advised the public to heed the Meteorological Department's warnings of heavy rain and only leave their homes for essential purposes.

In a tragic incident on Saturday, rescue teams retrieved the body of a woman who was buried under the debris of a building following a landslide in Ghansali, Uttarakhand. The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, trapped the woman and her daughter in their collapsed home. The disaster was reported around 3 AM, and rescue teams promptly reached the site.

The SDRF team, led by Chief Constable Kuldeep Singh, conducted an intensive search alongside the District Police, successfully recovering the body of Sarita Devi. The state has experienced multiple landslides in recent days, blocking key highways like the one to Badrinath at several points due to rubble.
