PM Modi Emphasizes 'Viksit Bharat' at NITI Aayog Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired the ninth Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. Attended by Chief Ministers and Lt. Governors from 20 states and six Union Territories, Modi emphasized that the vision of 'Viksit Bharat' can only be realized through 'Viksit States.' He stressed that states and districts should forge visions for 2047 to meet this ambitious goal, according to a NITI Aayog press release.

Modi highlighted the importance of cooperation between states and the Centre, focusing on the collective effort to achieve 'Viksit Bharat @2047.' He urged states to target zero poverty, tackle it individually, and create an investor-friendly environment. An 'Investment-friendly Charter' would be prepared, outlining key policies and processes to attract investments, fostering healthy competition among states.

Reflecting on India's economic progress, Modi noted the country's rise from the 10th largest economy in 2014 to the 5th in 2024, with aspirations to become the third largest. He encouraged states to tap into developmental opportunities and implement innovative policies. The meeting also highlighted success stories in agriculture, digitalization, and governance, with suggestions from various state leaders.
