In a move to inspire nationalism and patriotism among students, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the national anthem will be performed during morning assemblies across all state schools. Additionally, the state government mandates the daily unfurling of the national flag in all High and Senior Secondary Schools. CM Sukhu emphasized that these activities aim to foster a sense of unity and integrity in the younger generation, helping to nurture responsible citizens for the nation.
Highlighting the government's commitment to educational reforms, CM Sukhu stated that this initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the state's education system. Physical Education and Yoga will be added as mandatory subjects, ensuring students spend at least 15 minutes on physical exercises daily. In partnership with the Health and Ayush Departments, training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid will also be provided to students, equipping them with essential life-saving skills.
These initiatives align with the state government's goal of offering a holistic education that extends beyond academic excellence to include physical health, national pride, and civic responsibility. CM Sukhu remarked, "By integrating these elements into students' daily routines, the government aims to cultivate a more resilient, united, and patriotic future generation." He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to the welfare of weaker sections by announcing a grant of Rs. 1.50 lakh for SC, ST, and OBC families to build homes under the Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojna, a scheme from which 1150 houseless individuals benefited last year with an allocation of Rs. 17.25 crore.
