Protests Erupt Over UPSC Aspirants' Tragic Deaths at Delhi Coaching Centre

Following the death of three UPSC aspirants in Delhi, protests have surged against coaching institutes. Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced that the Delhi government is open to discussions with demonstrators and advocates for national reforms to address the issues in the coaching industry.

In the wake of protests outside Delhi's Rajinder Nagar coaching institutes after the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants in a flooding incident at Rau's IAS coaching centre, Delhi Environment Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai stated the government is prepared to discuss with the protesting students.

Gopal Rai highlighted the nationwide outcry against the coaching centres over their fees, administration, and irregularities. He emphasized that the issue extends beyond Delhi and called for a joint committee comprising political parties, parents, students, and coaching institute representatives to draft a national law addressing these concerns.

Regarding efforts by the Delhi government to engage with protesters, Rai mentioned the government's and MCD's swift actions to resolve issues, affirming their openness to dialogue. He urged the police to handle grieving students with care, noting that earlier, a delegation of students had been taken to the MCD Commission Office for talks.

Additional Commissioner MCD Tariq Thomas met with the protesting students, who were on a hunger strike, expressing his deep regret over the incident. He acknowledged the failure on the part of the officials and stressed that such incidents should not recur, calling it a collective responsibility.
