Bijbehara Police Attach Rs 2 Crore Property in Major Drug Bust

Bijbehara Police have seized a commercial complex worth over Rs 2 crores, acquired through illicit drug trade by the late Abdul Rashid Dar. A significant cache of contraband was found, leading to the attachment of the property under the NDPS Act.

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bijbehara Police Station has attached a commercial complex worth over Rs 2 crores. The property belonged to the late Abdul Rashid Dar from Tulkhan Bijbehara and was traced back to the illicit drug trade involving narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The seized assets include a commercial building located at a prime spot on NHW 44 in Semthan Bijbehara. The facility spans 5 Kanal 12 Marla under Survey No. 291 Min and was linked to Case FIR No. 210/2020 under Section 8/15-29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, filed at Bijbehara Police Station.

In September 2020, authorities uncovered an underground room in Dar's compound containing a large quantity of contraband, including 126 gunny bags weighing 2600 kgs and 60 plastic barrels (1395 kgs) presumably filled with poppy straw (Fukki). The investigation revealed that Dar obtained the contraband from illegal sources to distribute locally, promoting drug addiction. Anantnag Police have now taken decisive action by seizing the property funded through illegal means.
