PM Modi Commends Record Gas Production, Stresses Energy Self-Reliance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated a record achievement in gas production, emphasizing the importance of energy self-reliance for India’s development. The nation's gas production significantly increased from 28.7 BCM in 2020-21 to 36.43 BCM in 2023-24, with projections reaching 45.3 BCM by 2026.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the record gas production in the country, emphasizing its significance for India’s self-reliance in the energy sector. He stated this achievement as crucial for realizing the vision of a developed India.

The Prime Minister's remarks were in response to Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri's announcement that the country has set a new record in gas production. According to Puri, gas production in the country increased from 28.7 BCM in 2020-21 to 36.43 BCM in 2023-24.

The Union Minister has projected that gas production will further rise to 45.3 BCM by 2026. Modi congratulated the populace, noting that this milestone is a direct testament to the nation’s commitment to energy self-reliance.
