Gujarat CM Inspires Tree Planting Drive Across Anganwadis

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel spearheaded the 'Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam' campaign, instigating the plantation of 53,065 trees in Anganwadis statewide. This initiative aims to enhance environmental conservation and foster a love for nature among children. Other states like Assam are also participating in similar efforts.

Under the 'Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam' campaign, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday spearheaded an innovative initiative, urging the Women and Child Welfare Department to plant 53,065 trees along with Anganwadi children statewide. This effort aims to promote environmental conservation and instill a habit of nurturing trees among young children.

The ambitious drive commenced on the first day of the holy month of Shravan, targeting the plantation of a total of 3.15 lakh saplings in Anganwadis across Gujarat. In addition to distributing saplings, CM Patel also had heartfelt interactions with the children. The campaign sets further ambitious goals, aiming to plant 12.20 crore trees by September 2024 and 17 crore trees by March 2025.

Assam's CM, Himanta Biswa Sarma, previously participated in a tree plantation event under the same campaign on August 1, planting three crore saplings as part of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan. Sarma emphasized the importance of such initiatives for environmental protection, aligning with the larger vision promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he launched the campaign on World Environment Day on June 5.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also joined the drive, planting a tree in memory of his mother, and called on the public to actively participate in environmental protection efforts. The campaign aims to make environmental conservation a dynamic and communal effort.
