Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders demanded an investigation into the police lathi charge on party workers, including state Congress chief Jitu Patwari, during a protest in Indore on August 6. The delegation, featuring prominent leaders such as former Union Minister Arun Yadav, submitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police (DGP).
Congress leader Mukesh Nayak revealed that the memorandum highlights the alleged police brutality during the peaceful protest. He stated that the Congress would continue its agitations until an investigation is initiated. Nayak emphasized that the incident would not be forgotten and the party would respond when necessary.
Arun Yadav reiterated the call for a thorough investigation and appropriate action against those responsible. He stressed that the police response during the protest was excessive and unwarranted. The protest saw participation from several Congress leaders and workers, who were halted by police barricades and water cannons en route to the Divisional Commissioner's Office.
