BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj led a cleanliness drive in Naraina Vihar on Saturday, participating in the party's 'Jhuggi Basti Safai Abhiyan' initiative. She was seen planting saplings with the local residents.

In an interview with ANI, Swaraj explained the drive aimed to clear garbage from a nearby dump. 'We, the BJP members, have come to this area between Chirag Delhi village and Sheikh Sarai bridge. A drainage system nearby has led to a large dump. As part of the Jhuggi Basti Safai Abhiyan, we organized a cleanup here and planted saplings to improve the environment and build a park for the residents,' Swaraj said.

Previously, on August 4, Delhi BJP leaders, including President Virendra Sachdeva and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, joined the 'Jhuggi Basti Safai Abhiyan' campaign. The leaders participated in cleanliness drives and tree planting in various locales. Delhi BJP chief Sachdeva took part in Anand Vihar, while Swaraj was active in Naraina Vihar, and MP Harsh Malhotra in Kalander colony. Outfits engaged across multiple zones including Badarpur and Wazirpur.

Discussing the campaign, Sachdeva stated, 'We have launched cleanliness drives in many Delhi slums. It's the rainy season, and diseases like dengue are on the rise. Our workers are running these programs across Delhi and will continue to do so.' Meanwhile, Swaraj criticized the AAP government, accusing them of inaction and shifting blame during crises.
