In response to the ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh, Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan confirmed that processes to verify the identities of Bangladeshi nationals entering Odisha will commence soon. Many individuals are arriving through West Bengal, prompting increased coastal security measures, Harichandan informed reporters.

The Odisha Chief Minister has reviewed the situation and marine police stations have been sensitised. This development follows Bangladesh's political crisis, leading to protests. Additionally, thousands of Canadians marched in downtown Toronto to protest violence against Hindus in Bangladesh after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent resignation.

The demonstrators are urging the Canadian government to press Dhaka to safeguard its Hindu population. The political landscape in Bangladesh shifted dramatically after Sheikh Hasina's resignation on August 5 amid widespread protests. Nobel laureate economist Muhammad Yunus, 84, was sworn in as head of the interim government on August 8 by President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
