Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe allegations by Hindenburg Research against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Buch. The call comes in response to claims that Buch and her husband had stakes in offshore funds connected to the Adani Group's financial scandals.
Ramesh criticized SEBI's ongoing investigations, stating they divert attention from core issues. 'Actions matter, not activities,' he stressed in a letter, adding that the delays have allowed significant individuals to evade addressing their roles in these controversies.
The Congress leader alleged that SEBI's delayed responses have damaged its reputation. He called for the SEBI Chairperson's resignation and suggested the Supreme Court transfer the investigation to a more impartial body like the CBI or a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to restore trust in India's financial market regulator.
