Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra voiced grave concerns on Friday over the rising atrocities against women in West Bengal, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. She condemned the repeated leniency in such cases and the political protection afforded to the accused, describing these actions as major letdowns for women.

Highlighting alarming government statistics showing 86 rapes daily, Gandhi questioned, 'From whom should women expect protection?' Her remarks, posted on 'X' in Hindi, reflect a nation mourning recent heinous crimes.

Gandhi's comments follow the grisly rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata and the brutal killing of a nurse in Uttarakhand. Additionally, a 14-year-old Dalit girl in Bihar was found dead with injury marks, intensifying the outcry. 'Whenever such incidents occur, women are keenly observing the government's actions,' she added, criticizing the failure to deliver strong messages on women's safety.
