BJP Forms Election Committee for J&K Assembly Polls Set for September

The BJP has formed an election committee for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, as the Union Territory gears up for three-phase polls starting on September 18. The election marks a significant event after a ten-year gap since the last assembly election in 2014.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in consultation with party chief JP Nadda, Union Minister and J-K Election Incharge G Kishan Reddy, and National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, has constituted an election committee for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Key members include BJP State President Ravinder Raina and several MPs and former Deputy Chief Ministers.

This committee also features notable figures such as Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Tarun Chugh, and National Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh as special invitees. The elections will be conducted in three phases beginning on September 18, as announced by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in a press conference held in the national capital.

Kumar detailed that voting will occur on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting scheduled for October 4. Important filing dates include August 27 for the first phase, September 5 for the second, and September 12 for the third. Jammu and Kashmir has a total of 90 assembly seats, and it’s the first election since the PDP-BJP coalition government fell in June 2018.
