Supreme Court Urged for Intervention in Kolkata Doctor's Murder Case

Two Supreme Court lawyers and a Telangana-based doctor have written to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud urging immediate action on the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. They stress the urgent need for judicial intervention and central security to protect medical professionals.

Two lawyers practicing in the Supreme Court wrote a letter to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday, urging him to take suo moto cognizance of the tape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College. Advocates Ujjawal Gaur and Rohit Pandey emphasized the need for the highest court to intervene urgently.

The letter stressed that the judiciary is viewed as the ultimate guardian of justice. 'The victim, a young doctor dedicated to serving others, deserves nothing less than full justice,' the letter stated. It highlighted the necessity for the judiciary to send a strong message against such heinous crimes, ensuring that no other woman suffers similarly.

In a separate letter, Dr. Monica Singh from the Army College of Dental Sciences called for a thorough investigation and the deployment of Central Forces to protect medical institutions. The letter emphasized the severe disruption caused by the attacks and the need for immediate security measures. Nationwide protests have erupted, demanding protection and justice for medical professionals.
