Uttarakhand CM Hails Passage of Bill Granting 10% Reservation to State Agitators

Dhami highlighted, 'The state agitators have contributed immensely to the formation of Uttarakhand. To secure their rights, a bill was introduced in the assembly and subsequently passed. With the Governor's approval, this bill will now be legally implemented. The government fulfills its promises. Congratulations to all the agitators and their dependents on this achievement.'

Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his satisfaction over the Governor's approval of the bill granting a 10 percent reservation in government services to state agitators, according to an official release. The Chief Minister also conveyed his gratitude to the Governor, Lt Gen Retd Gurmeet Singh, for his support on this matter.

Dhami reiterated that the state government can never forget the struggle and sacrifices of the state agitators, affirming that they will always hold a place of respect. He stated, 'Our government prioritizes their welfare. We decided to provide a 10 percent job reservation to state agitators and their dependents, a bill that has been passed by the Assembly and sanctioned by the Governor. This satisfies a long-standing demand of the state agitators.'

He further announced that, along with increasing pensions for state agitators, the government has decided to extend pension benefits to their dependents after their demise.
