In a significant development, Congress leader Rashid Ali expressed his appreciation for the Supreme Court's decision to take suo motu cognisance of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Ali emphasized his confidence that the apex court would uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.

Rashid Ali, speaking to ANI, welcomed the Supreme Court's intervention. He stated, "The apex court will uncover the truth behind the case and deliver justice. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the matter, and under the Supreme Court's supervision, this bodes well for justice."

The body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was found in the hospital's seminar room on August 9, prompting immediate police action and subsequent CBI involvement following Calcutta High Court's directive. Supreme Court's intervention followed a plea from two lawyers and a doctor, highlighting the need for the judiciary's immediate and thorough intervention.

As the nation looks to the judiciary for justice, this case underscores an urgent call for stringent measures to protect medical professionals. Additional pleas in the Supreme Court have sought enhanced security for medical institutions nationwide. The tragic incident has sparked widespread protests, demanding severe punishment for the accused and comprehensive safety for medical staff.
