Russia's Stand: Dismissing the Swiss 'Peace Summit' as Fraud

Zakharova's remarks underscore Moscow's disapproval of the June summit, which featured over 90 country delegations but excluded Russia, rendering its discussions meaningless in the Kremlin's eyes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has expressed intent to host a follow-up meeting before the year's end, hoping for Russian involvement.

Zakharova criticized the peace summit on the Telegram messaging app, calling it a 'manifestation of fraud by the Anglo-Saxons and their Ukrainian puppets.' She indicated that Russia is open to 'truly serious proposals' that acknowledge 'the situation on the ground,' alluding to Russia's annexation of four Ukrainian regions. She also accused Ukraine and its Western allies of neglecting peace, citing Ukraine's recent military actions and continued appeals for Western weaponry. With Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin setting conditions for talks, including Ukraine's forfeiture of the contested regions, ongoing dialogue remains uncertain.
