Odisha's Tactical Preparations for Cyclone Dana Unveiled

Odisha officials are gearing up for Cyclone Dana, with energy grids and emergency towers being closely monitored. The government assures zero casualties amidst the heavy rainfall forecast, mobilizing NDRF, ODRAF, and Fire Services while ensuring uninterrupted power for essential services like hospitals.

Hemanta Sharma, Principal Secretary of Odisha's Department of Energy, confirmed rigorous monitoring of energy grids and emergency transmission towers in districts potentially impacted by Cyclone Dana. The India Meteorological Department forecasts the cyclone to strike between the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts on the night of October 24 into the early morning of October 25.

Efforts are underway to ensure preparedness, with electricity distribution companies in areas such as Baleswar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, and Cuttack on high alert. Control rooms have been established, and manpower has been dispatched to restore any possible damages, according to Sharma's statement to ANI. Vulnerable infrastructures are being identified for proactive measures.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reassured the public post a review meeting on cyclone readiness, emphasizing the state's commitment to zero casualties. Evacuations in vulnerable regions are being mapped out, with emergency teams like the NDRF and ODRAF on standby. Measures for swift reinstatement of power and communications, especially to hospitals, are in place, affirmed by the Chief Minister.
