Jammu and Kashmir Security Under Scrutiny: Zero Tolerance on Terror

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led a critical security review meeting, reinforcing India's zero-tolerance stance on terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting aimed to evaluate recent threats, bolster intelligence, and strengthen border security while promoting regional development efforts.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha convened a pivotal security review meeting in Jammu on Thursday, reflecting a persistent focus on regional stability. This session is part of a series of strategic reviews targeting the reinforcement of intelligence networks, countering infiltration, and accelerating developmental projects within the area.

Previously, Union Home Minister Amit Shah underscored a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism, advocating for enhanced coordination between Central and state security forces. The present review is designed to assess recent security developments, addressing new threats from terror factions and insurgent activities in the Kashmir Valley.

High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence departments, Army, paramilitary units, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration are expected to participate. In recent years, the government has intensified counter-terrorism efforts, dismantling terror structures and advancing developmental engagement across the region.

The latest review comes in response to recent incidents and ongoing anti-terror operations, aligning with governmental plans for sustained peace in the region. Notably, Amit Shah directed the Border Security Force (BSF) to ensure 'zero infiltration' across the India-Pakistan border through the integration of advanced surveillance technologies and fortified border management, following a high-level meeting in the national capital.

The Home Minister emphasized the need for all security bodies to remain vigilant and synergize their efforts in eliminating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. He called for stringent measures to ensure a 'zero terror scenario' in the Union Territory.

This meeting is part of a continuum of high-level dialogues held earlier with the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on February 4 and 5.
