As the second part of the Parliament's budget session kicks off, Congress MP K Suresh has announced plans to bring key issues to the fore, spotlighting the contentious delimitation process that is perceived to affect Southern states, notably Tamil Nadu. Suresh emphasized, "The Government of India is proceeding with delimitation without consulting stakeholders."
Meanwhile, DMK MP Tiruchi Siva submitted a Suspension of Business Notice in the Rajya Sabha, aiming to forcefully address the potential impacts of the impending delimitation exercise on India's federal architecture and Southern states' representation. Concurrently, Congress MP Manickam Tagore has called for a House adjournment to discuss escalating violence and governance challenges in Manipur and Jammu, signaling a tightening grip on security issues.
Highlighting the volatile situation post-Article 370 abrogation, Tagore noted significant violence in Jammu and Kashmir, citing over 716 incidents and numerous casualties. The spread of militancy, he indicated, now plagues what was once a terrorism-free zone. Several MPs are raising alarms about internal security, underfunded railway projects, and stock market instability, showcasing the diverse array of pressing national issues.
