Assam Rifles, operating in tandem with the Land Customs Station at Zokhawthar, successfully intercepted a significant cache of foreign-made contraband on March 24, 2025. The operation culminated in the recovery of 491 foreign-origin e-cigarettes, four cases and 42 cartons of foreign cigarettes, and 10 cases of Korean Soju in the General Area Crossing Point III, located in the Champhai district of Mizoram. The joint effort was the result of precise intelligence gathering, according to officials speaking on Wednesday.

Officials reported that Assam Rifles discovered contraband worth Rs16.43 lakh, which has been turned over to land customs authorities for comprehensive investigation and legal processes. Coinciding with this operation, on March 25, Assam Rifles apprehended an individual responsible for circulating counterfeit Indian currency in Assam's Silchar district, valued at a staggering Rs 37 lakh. This separate but significant operation was based on intelligence initially targeting drug smuggling activities.

An official statement emphasized the dedicated efforts of Assam Rifles, highlighting the meticulous detection and seizure of fake Indian currency notes totaling Rs 37,28,500 in Rongpur, Silchar, Assam, on March 25. This seizure deals a significant blow to counterfeit operations attempting to disrupt the region's financial stability. Meanwhile, across Manipur, coordinated operations by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, resulted in the retrieval of 32 weapons along with ammunition and war-like materials, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining law and order, and curbing illegal activities.
