In a significant move towards enhancing legal awareness among tribal communities, Supreme Court Justices BR Gavai and Ujjal Bhuyan are set to visit Arunachal Pradesh for the 'Camp-Cum-Sewa Apke Dwar' initiative on March 29 and 30. This program is designed to strengthen legal outreach efforts in Dirang, Bomdila, West Kameng District, and Tawang.

According to the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), legal aid for Scheduled Tribes (STs) is essential due to their historical isolation from mainstream governance. Under Section 12(a) of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, over 1.3 lakh tribal individuals received free legal aid in 2024 alone, demonstrating NALSA's commitment to tribal justice.

The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA), in collaboration with other legal and community organizations, is organizing the Mega Legal Awareness Programme Camp. Focusing on laws like the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers Act, 2006, and the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Court Act, 2021, the initiative promises immediate legal assistance and addresses tribal rights and welfare schemes.
