In a bid to enhance national security and readiness, a large-scale mock drill was orchestrated in Imphal on Wednesday. This is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs to simulate emergency scenarios across major Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai. The evaluative exercise is crucial for gauging local responses to evolving security threats.

The drills follow immediate aftermath of a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs to test and ensure counterm measures are robust against mounting threats. This week witnessed India executing 'Operation Sindoor'—a series of military strikes targeting terrorist bases within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, following a brutal terror incident in Pahalgam.

The operation was a powerful statement of resolve. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, alongside senior officials, reported a successful mission that demolished nine terrorist encampments while avoiding civilian collateral. The strike, the deepest incursion into Pakistani terrain since 1971, was a calculated response to recent provocations undermining stability in the region.
