Tensions between Pakistan and India have reached a new high after India's Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps across the border. The operation came in response to a deadly attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead, including 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. India's Ministry of Defence emphasized the targeted, non-escalatory nature of the strikes, stating clearly that no Pakistani military facilities were attacked.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused India of an act of war. He announced that Pakistan is delivering a 'forceful response' while assuring the public of national unity and backing for the military's efforts. The Pakistani military confirmed Indian strikes hit locations such as Muzaffarabad and Kotli. In retaliation, Pakistan Air Force jets are on alert, with Sharif asserting that Pakistan will respond at a time of its choosing.
The ongoing hostilities have heavily impacted civilians, particularly in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, where ceasefire violations by Pakistan have claimed 13 lives and injured 59 others. As the situation along the Line of Control remains tense, both nations seek to maintain a narrative of strength and justify actions to their respective citizens.
