India Mobilizes Territorial Army Amid Rising Tensions with Pakistan

The Indian government has authorized the Chief of Army Staff to activate Territorial Army personnel amidst growing tensions with Pakistan. This decision allows for the deployment of 14 Infantry Battalions across multiple commands, as border skirmishes and recent drone attacks escalate the conflict.

The Indian government on Friday granted the Chief of Army Staff the authority to activate every officer and enrolled member of the Territorial Army amid escalating tensions with Pakistan.

This directive, under the powers of Rule 33 of the Territorial Army Rule 1948, accompanies a Ministry of Defence notification sanctioning the deployment of 14 out of the 32 Infantry Battalions in Southern, Eastern, Western, Central, Northern, South Western, Andaman and Nicobar Commands.

The escalation follows coordinated drone and missile attacks by Pakistan along India's western border, intercepted primarily by Indian defense systems, and comes after India's recent Operation Sindoor targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan, further straining diplomatic tensions.
