Congress MP Manish Tewari on Tuesday praised India's decisive response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, asserting that it delivers a stark warning to Pakistan about the severe repercussions of using terrorism as state policy. Highlighting Operation Sindoor, Tewari lauded the Indian Armed Forces for effectively targeting nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) following the attack that claimed 26 lives.
'A message is undoubtedly clear—a message to Pakistan that if it persists in using terror as a tool of statecraft, it will face punitive consequences,' Tewari told ANI, underscoring the operation carried out on May 7 as a testament to India's commitment to combating state-sponsored terrorism.
Tewari expressed his hope that Pakistan's leadership would rethink its approach, pointing to its history of 'nuclear blackmail' linked to state-sponsored terror. He conveyed optimism that not only Pakistan's civilian and military leaders but also the influential 'deep state' would reassess their strategies.
The Congress MP's statements followed an understanding reached on May 10 to cease hostilities between the two nations, coming after India's robust military action post the Pahalgam attack. Operation Sindoor targeted terrorist infrastructures, reportedly resulting in over 100 militant casualties, affecting organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Pakistan responded to the military offensive with cross-border shelling and attempted drone strikes along the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir. India reciprocated with a coordinated assault, damaging radar systems, communication hubs, and airfields across 11 Pakistani airbases. (ANI)
